Walking down the aisle to B and seeing him all done up in his suit! This was a surreal moment, I was trying so hard not to cry – which I was successful keeping it together. This part was such a blur! But seeing videos of this, I was sprinting down the aisle, ha!, probably so I wouldn’t cry. Recap: Our Ceremony
My Father/Daughter dance – it’s going to be a tear jerker but that’s all I’m saying. I loved this moment and it definitely got a lot of guests teared up. We danced to A Whole New World from Aladdin, which happened to be the same song my dad and I danced too when I was about three – and we had that video playing in the background as we danced to it again!
Dancing the night away with B, our family and friends. So. much. fun.
Eating MY wedding cake and drinking champagne! Our cake was so delicious and I didn’t drink nearly enough champagne!!
Finally being B’s wife! The best part.
If you missed all our wedding fun, catch-up on some old posts; Girls getting ready and the groom getting ready pre-wedding. And check out the links above for the Venue and Ceremony!! Our wedding was pretty perfect, and our first year of marriage has been a nice coast through and happy to have all the wedding festivities behind us!
We had a traditional, full service mass for our wedding vows, something that was important to the both of us. We also put a lot of thought into the readings we chose, and who we asked to be involved in the ceremony. Most of it was a blur but we had a few good laughs with the sweet homily from our priest and then a little moment during our vows that will always be sweet memory. My main goal was not to cry walking down the aisle, because I’m a Kim K. cryer, but I kept it together and only got a little teary eyed.
Since it was a tsunami of rain our entire wedding day, our exit from the church had to be adjusted – I had hand cut and made over a hundred ribbon wands and they weren’t going to waste! So we had a quick brainstorm while we were held up in the bridal suite to hand them out to guests ahead of time and asked everyone to wave them as we walked down the aisle – it worked out pretty great, and the best part was B had no idea so he was completely surprised!
What I love the most about these photos is they share the true emotions of happiness and love that we all felt that day, it was an unbelievable feeling that won’t be able to be duplicated.
The venue was a bank from the 1920’s – 1923 to be exact, that was restored to be an event venue. The original bank vault is in near mint condition with it’s nearly foot thick original door, and the bankers office was the perfect space for photos ahead of time with original wood ceilings and a stunning fireplace. So without further ado, please enjoy the finished product with lights, flowers, lots and lots of marble and pure perfection.
One of the benefits of this venue was that it was so beautiful to begin with that we really didn’t have to do much with the florals, or other decor, although we had some stunning centerpieces that definitely made a statement. Pro-tip: Look for a venue with natural beauty, you’ll save with the extras in the long run. Although to further show off the beauty and details of this venue, we rented six, sixty-inch mirror table tops that reflected the gorgeous original ceilings, allowing our guests to enjoy the original beauty at all times. The venue also had original bankers tables that we were able to use as bars in the main room, this pulled everything together and really tied in the history of the venue.
We were so in love with how it all turned out, how beautiful everything looked and how it all came to life for the most perfect day!
The somewhat controversial, holiday that has been called many things – a Hallmark holiday, only for people who have a sig-o, a day to buy overpriced flowers, yada yada. But, I love, love!
This year I decided to show a little extra love to B each and every day of February instead of just the holiday. It’s been fun planning out each day with a new surprise, I wanted to do it for 28-straight days because it’s far too easy for us all to just focus on spoiling our loved ones on this one, single, day — thinking we are in the clear until the next anniversary or holiday. Some days have been more extravagant than others, and some are simply a text with a memory or a handwritten love note (my fave!)
So regardless of your feelings on the day, I want to send a little piece of my love and well wishes especially to those reading right now. And I hope that you can share a little bit of extra love today, whether it’s smiling at a stranger, buying someone’s coffee, taking out the trash for your boo, giving a compliment to a coworker or calling someone you haven’t seen in awhile.
Don’t forget to share love, today but most importantly… always.
I thought 2016 was epic… but 2017 was pretty epic, too! Especially since WE GOT MARRIED! On top of getting married we went on four amazing trips, celebrated four other weddings for dear friends, conquered some house projects, got my butt into gear with my health, and created a ton of other awesome memories!
This whole year seemed like a constant celebration for our wedding, or our dear friends weddings from bridal showers to bachelorette parties to planning for all the events, let alone the big day. Every time we saw family or friends, dinners and happy hours turned into wedding planning filled with laughs and good company.
We traveled to DC, Myrtle Beach, St. Louis/Ozarks, and Palm Desert – all of these being firsts together and perfect getaways from all the wedding crazy filled with more family fun. We are so fortunate to be able to travel like we do, and can’t wait for all our future trips together.
We have been so blessed this entire year and I can’t believe it’s nearly over!
Before we all start running around and making our last minute trips to the grocery store, Target and anywhere in between, on behalf of B and myself, we want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
We hope to remember to take a moment and pause in all the hectic and reflect on the true meaning of this holiday, how fortunate we are (in our many different ways), and squeeze everyone a little tighter this year.
We are so excited to spend our first Christmas as Mr. & Mrs. and continue to build our own traditions when we can and celebrate this most special day with our nearest and dearest.
Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I hope you all had a blessed and loving day with family, friends, loved ones and furry pals. Our Thanksgiving this year was one for the books and a bit out of the ordinary since we were on our honeymoon! But more to come on that… so since we finally tied the knot, I wanted to give my readers a little sneak peak of our wedding since we are anxiously awaiting the final photos from our photographers – although they have teased us with a few.
In a nutshell, the day was absolutely perfect. Everything seemed so surreal, I couldn’t believe it was actually our wedding day – I felt like we were playing dress-up the whole day. But it was so beautiful, everything worked out as planned and our guests seemed to enjoy themselves! The day didn’t seem to go too fast, but there were moments throughout the night where I almost pinched myself and a few times when I just sat down and soaked it all in.
No one can prepare you for what you feel on your wedding day, the mix of emotions, the wave of people, love and support, the overwhelming feelings and the moments of perfection. I imagined how I would feel, what the day would bring, things I wanted to try and do, but you can’t do anything but live in that moment at that very time, and oh what a crazy beautiful moment it all was.
This past weekend we were lucky enough to celebrate one of my best girl’s wedding! Knowing A, every detail and part of this day was thought of and would be done to perfection. Having been planning our weddings at the same time, it was fun to share in the little details, that we got to see come to life on the big day! And everything was perfectly executed and stunning, including the bride herself. A’s dress, hair, and accessories were the perfect compliment to the day and reflection of her personality.
We celebrated their union in a full service Catholic ceremony, which led to an exit with bag pipes and bubbles, all cheering the happy couple! From the church, we headed to the reception which was at A&K’s farm, their property was completely transformed into a stunning venue as the barn was suited for cocktail hour with wooden walk-ways leading through the barn, a two-tier deck, decorative seating, a string quartet, and tasty drinks and hors d’oeuvre.
The reception tent was a stunning reveal, as we were some of the first people let inside, jaws were on the floor in awe. The focal point was this breathtaking chandelier, and the wood farm tables which lined the room. The tables were perfectly set and staged with florals and flatware. The band was playing a Frank Sinatra song as the remaining guests entered and found their seats.
A&K were introduced with their bridal party and led quickly into their first dance. The rest of the festivities continued to kickoff as we were served dinner, which was all amazing, the evening continued to flow as dancing got started! It was great catching up with friends, their loved ones and stealing a few dances and moments with the bride and groom. The best part of the night was seeing how happy A&K were, they were so incredibly happy and it was such a beautifully perfect night to kickoff their next chapter as husband and wife!
Woah, it’s August 1st! Where has the summer gone? Where has 2016 gone? I can’t believe it!
It was late-May that B and I decided on a date, August XX 2017, and it seemed like a long ways away, but now that it’s August 1st, we are inching closer to the year-mark. Ah! It always seemed like we had more than enough time to plan and figure things out. But now it definitely feels like it’s go time. I know this next year is going to fly by. The good news is we’ve made some, in my opinion, serious progress over this past weekend! Go us!
Now, I’m not going to give out specifics because that would be too easy, I need to build the suspense for all of you. But things are definitely cranking and over this next month I know a few other details and specifics will be finalized. B and I are both getting excited, and I love that B is getting excited, involved and helping make decisions.
As we’ve started figuring out a few details, a million other little ones seem to pop up in it’s path… and as I start exploring those little paths the price tags keep adding up, a couple grand here, a couple more over there… there are a few things we will definitely need to be creative with and already have some ideas on how to do just that. I can’t wait to share those little details once we get a few more of the bigger ones finalized.
Part of me, is ready to get this done and marry B, and just elope. Another part of me is so excited to see our dreams come to life for our special day. So I think I’m going to wait and take the ladder.
